About Scruffy City Sings

Join us each summer for a cabaret-style fundraising series!

Scruffy City Sings is a fundraiser the only way we know how: giving y'all a great evening of entertainment, building towards providing bigger and better paid artist opportunities.  

Each month is completely different: new performers, new musicians, a new guest artist, and a new style. From jazz standards to disco hits, musical theatre to country western, join some of Knoxville's best live performers for a showcase of local vocal talent. All proceeds will go towards First Take Co.'s artist pay fund for our upcoming season.

  • Student/Industry: For any and all students, or arts/service industry folks who need a more accessible ticket option.
  • General Admission: Your standard fare adult admission.
  • Living Wage: We're building towards offering all artists a living wage for their work. This price represents how much it would cost for us to pay everyone a living wage for their time. Each purchase helps us get closer to our goal for future projects!

First Take Co. is an entertainment company, arts incubator, and professional development hub that gives multifaceted makers the space to explore areas of their artistry that are inaccessible through conventional means. 

 

Founded by alumni from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Great River Shakespeare Festival, First Take Co. is an itinerant company that champions the work of its ensemble by highlighting its developmental works while simultaneously partnering with other nonprofit organizations to craft bespoke events. In the future, we at First Take Co. want to continue to create work that is only strengthened by our desire to take risks and explore intradisciplinary domains.
